Hess' Law states that if a reaction can take place by more than one route and the initial and final conditions are the same, then the total enthalpy change is the same. A virtual lab simulator was used to demonstrate Hess' Law with aqueous hydrochloric acid (HCl), aqueous sodium hydroxide (NaOH), solid sodium hydroxide (NaOH), and a calorimeter. Ultimately, using the principles of enthalpy, Hess' Law, and molecular thermodynamics, the three reactions demonstrated Hess' Law.
