Like Mother Like Daughter (Isabella C. '21)

My independent study project explores the complicated dynamics in the mother/daughter relationship. The photographs show how factors such as societal expectations affect familial relationships, while also examining how two people can simultaneously rely on each other and push each other away. I also wanted to explore the sensation of feeling constricted in a space, but desiring closeness to others. The backdrops focus on traditionally domestic spaces, which accentuate the feelings of confinement and intimacy.
